Winter Camp Awareness

January 18, 2020 aboard the USS Hornet in Alameda

Join us on January 18th at the historic USS Hornet for Achewon Nimat’s annual Winter Camp Awareness training! Prepare your troop with the knowledge needed to run a safe and fun snow camping experience, and for the annual Klondike Derby later this winter. The six training sessions include First Aid, Sleeping Warm, Stoves & Fuel, Tents & Terrain, Winter Clothing and Winter Foods, plus a lunch break period and admission to this excellent floating museum!

Prices

$15.00 for Scouts and $18.00 for adults; includes all course sessions and museum admission onboard. You may pre-purchase lunch for $6.00 per person, or bring your own. Please note that we are unable to accommodate any dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, vegan, kosher, halal, or gluten-free. Lunch will be two beef hotdogs w/buns, fruit, cookie/granola bar, and bottled water.

All registrations received on or after January 8, 2020 will be subject to an additional late fee of $5.00 per person. Council refund policy applies.

The USS Hornet is located by the wharf at 707 West Hornet Ave, Alameda, CA  94501. After the course sessions, attendees are encouraged to explore the ship’s museum at no additional charge! The USS Hornet served in WWII, the Korean conflict, the Vietnam War, and in the Apollo space program. For more information, visit:  www.uss-hornet.org

Additional Info

Check-in will be 8am to 8:45am, so please arrive early! The course sessions will begin promptly at 9am, ending around 2:45pm. All units must have a minimum of two adults accompany the youth at all times on the USS Hornet. Backpacks are not permitted onboard the ship, so if you bring one you will be asked to leave it in your vehicle.
