Venturing Crew #115 Christmas Tree Lot Customer Signup List

About Our Organization

The Snoqualmie Valley Venturing Crew #115 was established in 1987.  It is located in the Snoqulamie Valley in East King County in Western Washington State.  The group was formally known as Explorer Post #115 but because of a fromat change of Boy Scouts of America, the parent organization.  The program was changed to Venturing.  Though we are a division of BSA we are a co-ed group of young adults between the age of 14-21 and guided by a group of dedicated adult leaders and volunteers.

Our specialty is high adventure or any kind of fun in the outdoors.  Our program emphasizes team work among our members and we learn how much we can accomplish by working together.

Our activities are broad and are normally driven by our adult resources based on experiences they bring to our group.   But we do have some staple activities that we do annually.  Our first activity of the year is our Snow Campout where we ride snowmobiles owned by the Crew.  We have several pull behind sleds that we load up equipment and then go several miles up into the mountains.  The trip is preceded by several weeks of maintenance and repair of our snowmobile fleet.  Each member is required to attend our safety training both in class and in the field followed by a safety check off.

In the spring we turn from snowmobiles to Sea Kayak building.   We are currently updating our aging fleet of folding kayaks to new sea going kayaks.   Our plan is to build a mixed fleet of  1 and 2 person kayaks to accommodate a dozen people.  Each boat is made of Okume plywood, fiberglass and epoxy and each take approximately 60 hours to build.  As we transition to these new boats we will be taking tours in waters all over the north west and mainly in the San Juan Islands where we often tours the islands and campout.

In April we do our Coast Hike where we take a hike up the Washington Coast Wilderness.  This is a several mile hike in the remote areas of the coast.
In the summer we do various activities such as hikes and white water rafting.

Much of our program involves building our own equipment.   We make our own fishing lures and jigs. We have made shrimp traps, fishing rods and much of the infrastructure that helps make our crew great.

Our program is financially supported by our grand finally of activities, the “Tree Lot Our tree lot is locate in Snoqualmie, Washington and we have built up quite a cliental.  Our excellent Christmas trees, low prices and great service brings them back year after year.  The tree lot is not just a fund raiser but it is what really makes our group bond together as a team and a family.  The month long hard but fun work really brings out the best in everyone and makes us a better group all the way around.  The funds of the tree lot pays for all of our equipment and activity expenses and provided each member do their part, all of their activity expenses are paid for.

We believe Venturing Crew #115 is one of the finest and funest groups around. If you or some one you know is interested in joining.  Feel free to contact the links below.
