2013 is the 75th Anniversary of summer camp at Camp Thunder!

We have several exciting things planned to celebrate this milestone including a birthday party each week, a special 75th Anniversary patch, and a themed 4th of July week. And as always, we have a great selection of merit badges, our first year Scout program, fun and exciting activities, and high adventure opportunities for older Scouts.

Lawhorn Scouting Base is in search of adventurous Cub Scouts!

Come to camp December 1-2 and enjoy this fun filled weekend of Climbing for ALL Cub Scouts. Webelos can participate in both climbing and rappelling as they journey closer to becoming Boy Scouts.

Just $20 per Scout and $5 per adult covers the cost of this exciting weekend. (Note: If not staying the night, no charge for adults) Spend Saturday night in a platform tent located in the Flint River Adventure Area and experience a fantastic climbing weekend designed just for Cub Scouts!

Space is limited so make sure you register by November 23rd!

Lawhorn Scouting Base will host an action packed climbing and rappelling weekend November 15-16 at the Eagle Mountain Climbing Facility. Those over the age of 13 can also go for a ride on our 480' zip line!

A fee of $20 per scout and $5 per parent for this weekend includes overnight camping on Saturday night in one of the platform tents in the Flint River Adventure Area. Check-in will be Saturday, November 15 at 8:00am and the activities begin at 9:00am. (If just staying for the day, no charge for adults)

Lawhorn Scouting Base is Expanding its Campmaster Corps!

Mark your calendars- the next Campmaster Corps training will be held Saturday, January 12 from 8:00am to 2:00pm.

Campmasters are individuals or families that volunteer at camp on weekends to assist with groups. On the weekends, you volunteer, you and your family also have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Lawhorn Scouting Base.

The Unit Charter Fee and Post Participation Fee for all local Scouting Units and Exploring Posts will increase from $20 to $40 effective January 1, 2013.

This means the new fee will begin with units that have a December 31, 2012 renewal date. In addition, the Unit Charter Fee and Post Participation Fee will now be called the unit Liability Insurance Fee. Internet Rechartering and online Explorer Renewal will be updated to calculate the $40 Unit Liability Insurance Fee for units that expire on December 31, or later.
