The Great Hiawassee Raft Race

August 21-23 @ Gee Creek

It is time for the greatest event in Cherokee Area Council history. The Raft Race committee has worked tirelessly to make this the best Raft Race to date. Many of you ordered t-shirts and you may still pre-order dinner for Saturday night. Come out this year and see some examples of new types of rafts that may be used in future years and enjoy the entertainment on Saturday night. Sunday morning boasts the best chapel services in Scouting, complete with live gospel folk music.

Leader Training

September 19th & October 31st

Are you a leader with a new position or a new leader to Scouting?! We have the trainings you need to have the tools to create a better program for the boys. We have new training materials and great new books you will receive at training to take back with you. The most useful thing you'll leave with is valuable knowledge from Scouters who have spent years in the program and who can answer questions that aren't covered on any website or pamphlet. Be sure to pre-register for training; materials and breakfast will be included in the training fee.

Outdoor Leader Skills

October 23rd - 24th at Booker T. Washington State Park

Do you need to hone your skills or learn new ways of cooking meals and leading Scouts on trips? We have one of the best parts of the country for Scouts really experience the outdoors and learn self-reliance.  A good trip can make or break a boy's love of Scouting, and the Outdoor Leader Skills training is one of the steps that can help you as a leader put together the best trip for the boys. Blowing Springs Farm Pumpkin Carving Contest

September 14^th – 18^th

Calling all carvers! Enter your one-of-a-kind pumpkin into the Pumpkin Carving Contest at Rock City’s Enchanted MAiZE. Pumpkins will be on display at The Enchanted MAiZE at Blowing Springs Farm in Flintstone, GA from September 24th – November 1st!

Prizes awarded to Scouts ages 6-10, 11-18 and Scout Leaders! All pumpkins must be artificial carving pumpkins and can be dropped off at the Scout Service Center September 14-18^th!

LAKE WINNIE EXCLUSIVE SCOUT DAY

Sunday, September 27th, 12 – 8 PM

Lake Winnie is holding an exclusive Scout Day on Sunday, September 27th from 12-8 PM.  All Scouts wearing a “Class A” uniform shirt will receive free admission to the park AND a free Unlimited Ride pass.  Be sure to stop by the Scout Shop and purchase your Scout uniform shirt to qualify for free admission and rides.  Leaders, parents and siblings are not included in the free offer. CUB SCOUT FISHING DERBIES

Saturday, October 3^rd, 9 AM

Bring your fishing gear, bait and parent/guardian and join the fun at a fishing derby near you on October 3^rd, 2015 starting at 9 AM (local time).  Registration for all locations is $5 per Scout. Trophies awarded for Biggest Fish and Most Fish!  Patches will be given to all participants.

Summer is almost over which means it is time to get ready for fall recruitment! We have Cub Scout handbooks and leader guides for the New CS Program available, as well as uniform requirements.

We will be offering a 10% discount again if you purchase an entire uniform for your new Scout or if you need to purchase a new uniform for yourself.  This includes shirt, pants, patches, neckerchief, slide, and belt for Cub Scouts; and shirt, pants, neckerchief, slide, belt, patches, and shoulder loops for Webelos, Boy Scouts and Leaders. 

We currently have a variety of items marked down, including short sleeve shirts, patches, merit badge books, and much more.

If we don’t have your item in stock we will be glad to order those for you at no shipping cost to you, so let us be your Scouting headquarters.  Please note that all orders take up to 2 weeks to arrive and factory orders take up to 8 weeks to arrive.

2015 Skymont Recap & 2016 Registration
