MIDDLE TENNESSEE COUNCIL, BSA
PLANS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS
COMMUNICATION #10
December 31, 2020

Dear Middle Tennessee Council leaders and families:

We hope you and your families are doing well and continue staying safe during this holiday season!

We constantly monitor the COVID-19 virus in Tennessee and according to the Tennessee Dept. of Health there has been a significant increase in cases throughout our state. We want to provide you our recommendations and some guidelines as we continue to work together to provide Scouting programs tothe Middle Tennessee Council youth.

On December 22, 2020 the Governor released Executive Order No. 70. The Order states each person is urged to wear a cloth face covering in places where in close proximity to others and adhere to local decision-making concerning face covering requirements. Additionally, Executive Order 70 urges social distancing and properly exercise good faith judgement of 10 or less while social distancing at indoor activities, appropriate social distancing is six feet or more.

As always, the safety of our Scouts, volunteers, employees and communities is our top priority. This checklist link outlines several minimum guiding protocols that adult leaders/volunteers must consider while working with local and state health departments, local councils, chartered organizations and Scouting families on when and how to resume meetings, service projects, camping and all other official Scouting activities.

All units need to continue to follow the safety protocols of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as their Charter Organization and local and state guidelines where the unit meets. COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions updated by the CDC can be found here.

Like you, we want Scouts to meet and enjoy the program in a safe environment. We ask everyone to continue to follow these basic recommendations to help prevent the spread of COVID here in Tennessee and throughout the country:

  • Social distancing of at least 6 feet when possible.
  • Wearing a mask when around others.
  • Wash hands frequently.
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick or if a family member is not feeling well.

The Middle Tennessee Council team of staff and volunteers is here to support and assist you in any way possible. Together we will get through this and continue to offer what we consider are the best Scouting programs, led by the best volunteer leaders in the country.

We hope you have a safe and healthy New Year.
